3. This is scary. It seems apparent to me that the China virus causes idiocy, insanity and mass hysteria. I’m afraid that any vaccine which destroys that virus may be fatal to leftists. I don’t know if the rest of us would be able to stand the shock of individual freedom that would flood over the nation if the lefties were eliminated.

4. Growing up there were guns in my house one was my grandfather’s who passed away before is was born the other one is a world war 2 send home that a father picked up on the battlefield. I’m 66 now and I have both of those guns and will shoot them occasionally.

6. I could not have been more than eight or nine years old when I first fired a rifle under the supervision of my father, who was an avid hunter. He told us of his childhood, when he was given his first rifle at the age of eight, and, since he lived in ranching country, was given his first handgun at the age of twelve. He would hang it in his locker at school, and strap it back on when he rode home on the horse. The rifle stayed on the horse while he was in class. I did not have a BB gun growing up, but many of the kids in the neighborhood did, and no one ever got an eye shot out. All of us were taught to be responsible at an early age, just as my father’s generation was. Now it seems that society either does not want children to be responsible, or it assumes that parents cannot teach them to be.

   1. Society has not wanted responsibility since the late ’70s and the “spanking kids is child abuse” movement! “Time-outs” and “alternative punishment” have completely ruined American society by turning kids into spineless whiners and complainers! Even Dr. Benjamin Spock said he was totally wrong in his famous child rearing “handbook”, which just about every ’80s and ’90s parent followed like a bible!

7. I wasn’t allowed a BB gun. My father didn’t believe in them. Instead he OK’d it when I was given a Springfield .22 caliber training rifle at 9. The friend of Dad’s who gave it to me had full permission from my parents. That gun was not a good shooter, so my Dad got rid of it and got me a Marlin bolt action .22 at 10 years of age. I joined Riflery Team at school when I was 13. My dad then bought me a very nice used Remington bull-barreled target rifle. It had a clip, but I used a single shot ramp clip as long as I had that rifle. My dad took me with him from a young age when he wanted to go to Goodman’s for Guns in St. Louis, MO to look at a new firearm. I was allowed to handle the merchandise under the watchful eye of the shop owners and my father. I only saw my Dad weep openly twice in my life. Once was when my Mom passed at 49 years of age and when that same women, years before, saved her bridge club money to buy him a Weatherby Mark V in .300 Weatherby Magnum for Christmas. He then bought her a Remington Model 700 ADL in .243. I was allowed to shoot both those rifles. at Colonel Whelen’s range, when I was a pre-teen and early teenager. teenager. I am at a loss to understand the abject terror that the anti’s foment and am proud of my two sons’ service in the United States Marine Corps. The man they were fortunate enough to have really raise them after their Mom divorced me was a gun owner and a hunter. I am not now a gun owner, but have nearly always been one before I got older. I a befuddled by the people who thing they have the right to send the police to investigate ANYTHING hanging on a boy’s wall. As a youngster, all my guns were kept in a locked case, but since some of them were mine, I was allowed the key when I needed it, I realize that I have been rambling on and on. I have been dumbstruck by the multiple times that the police have been sicced on youngsters with Airsoft and BB guns. I have been called liberal by some. Perhaps in some ways that could be true, but I love my country and fervently believe in the Constitution of the United States and The Bill of Rights AS THEY ARE WRITTEN. If you read this, thank you for your time.

   1. My spelling was really off in the preceding diatribe. When I wrote about people who THINK they have the right to call the police, that is what I meant. When I wrote of shooting at Colonel Whelen’s Range as a pre-teen and early teenager, I somehow doubled up on teenager. I erred in doing so.    Ignorance is Bliss, the person who set this situation into motion with the police should be fired lose their pention, position, along with being banned from education in all 50 States.
   Career criminals in Congress, State Government, Local City Government, along with the hypocrisy of the Fake NEWS channels supporting their narrative have endangered the American public.
   Anti-constitutionalist’s sense of morality is situational, based on incident and emotion, instead of rooted in God’s word and law. Anti-constitutionalist’s stand for nothing. 9. I was helping my ex brother in law move about a year ago. While the 40 year old man was carrying his empty rifle through the house muzzle first horizontally my eight year old daughter yelled at him for not practicing gun safety. She’s had a pink red rider BB gun since she was five and has been taught to treat it as a real rifle. She’s now 8 and owns her own single shot .22. She knows more about gun safety than most adults and I am very confident that if she was ever in a situation where kids were playing with any firearm she would immediately run and get an adult. I am also teaching her to not be a liberal which is equally important as gun safety. Note to communist liberals that may be reading this… her .22 is locked in my gun safe 100% of the time unless we are training to possibly save your life someday. You’re welcome!

    1. Any time a video call is to made , we have them with the Dr lately, we have an area set up with clean sheets blocking any view. With all the invasive questions Drs are made to ask by insurance companies now, they don’t need to see more than the patients. No one else does either. The “Karen’s “ of the world are everywhere.

11. I agree with the previous comments about the 4th Amendment. Let them seek a warrant before you let them in your home. I doubt they would go that far. Don’t make it easy for them!

12. I began receiving safety and shooting instructions at an NRA range at about the age of 11 or 12. I saved up and bought a target .22 rifle– a Winchester Model 75– at 12, of course with my parents’ permission. I joined a junior rifle club. That was over 60 years ago. Unsurprisingly, both the range and the gun store were in D.C. I doubt that any of the other kids at that range ever misused a firearm.

       Not really. In NJ (and maybe some others) it is considered a firearm and requires a FID card to purchase.

    2. Sadly, where I live the local regulations consider a BB gun the same as a 30-06. The federal regulations are bad enough, pretty much ignoring the “shall not be infringed” part of the second amendment. The local authorities are a bunch of arrogant leftists. And, yes, I’m saving up to move somewhere better.

17. It’s kind of like keeping kids too clean, they build immunity to nothing, or not teaching them to ride a bike because they might fall and hurt themselves. Check out the differences between C-section kids and natural birth. That one needs to see for themselves. It will mean more than just being told. Coddle kids too much and they have trouble dealing with difficulties later in life.

18. The dumbing down of the United States. At 9 years, I received my BB gun. At 12 years, my first single shot 22 rifle. At 13, my first semi automatic 22 rifle. I had a drivers license at 14. Today, most kids don’t get an unrestricted license until age 18. They are still “kids ” in college. I had to be an adult in college. They have sex and drugs at 12. They never learn about our history, or our political way of life. When will we grow up and go back to treating teens like semi-adults?

19. Firstly, I totally agree with your reaction to this tragedy. That said, you are missing a few facts:
    -The Maryland Constitution CLOSELY PARALLELS that of the U.S. (That means the school teacher AND the principal – whom I believe called the police – were violating the boy’s rights under BOTH constitutions.)
    -There also was an AK-47 (AIRSOFT) rifle on the wall as well as the RED RIDER BB gun. [NOT currently illegal in Md, — YET —
    -The teacher took a screen shot of the image showing the boy’s wall. Isn’t that a violation of the boy’s privacy? [You can see the picture on TTAG]
    -When interviewed, it is my understanding that the school principal stated that since the child was on a video conference with his teacher, the principal considered the boy’s bedroom as “part of the school.’ —– [That principal, the teacher, and the BALTIMORE COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM, should be sued for punitive damages.]
    —- Just wanted all the “facts” out. —-

Don’t be suprised if one of the busy body liberal teachers decides to ask your child for a virtual tour of your home or even just their room while you are preoccupied or outside or depending on your child’s age, not at home. Teach your child to not do it and also to inform you if the teacher tries to intimidate them or threatens them with a poor grade.

21. Something that was left out was making sure that there is no reflective surfaces in the camera viewing area. Law enforcement and others have algorithms for clearing up reflections to clearly identify objects of interest. Big brother really is watching nowadays.

22. I am always amazed at the utter foolishness and stupidity some people exhibit. In this instance, someone should have actually gotten an adult to look over the scene before sending a cop to investigate. What would have happened if the folks were not cooperative, or even sane? The we’d all be hearing about the “evil people” who defended their rights with (shudder) a REAL weapon!

23. The way to limit the snooping is it use a fake background on the web cam used. Depending on the application, there are different ways to do that. That way they will see whatever you want them to and not your personal stuff. Show your kids how to do so and they will have fun with it.

24. At age eleven, zoom would have caught my .22 rim fire and 29 gauge pump on my wall. Of course that would have been fifty-five years ago.
