NSSF: Bloomie Burns Another $2Mil to Lose Virginia

Published

on

The 2021 off-year elections went poorly for the anti-gun billionaire. Let’s point and laugh.

Today, we here at Freedom’s Lodge are in possession of an excellent analysis from the National Shooting Sports Foundation‘s Larry Keane, detailing just how badly Mike Bloomberg‘s “gun control” agenda failed in the Old Dominion during the 2021 off-year elections. We all know Mike Bloomberg can’t buy friends, and it appears he wasn’t able to buy many votes in Virginia either. Below, please enjoy a nice hot cup of anti-gun tears courtesy of the NSSF!

BLOOMBERG TORCHES ANOTHER $2 MILLION IN VIRGINIA

By Larry Keane

Billionaire gun control kingpin and former failed Democratic presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg knows a thing or two about losing elections. He also has a long track record of spending millions to flip seats only to lose once voters reject more gun control at the polls.

That was the case in Virginia. Bloomberg’s arrogance showed yet again when he flipped over the couch cushions and found nearly $2 million to throw at the 2021 state-wide elections. It didn’t go well for him or gun control.

Gun rights candidates swept the big three offices of governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general. When the dust settled, Republicans flipped six seats to win the majority in the House of Delegates. It wasn’t pretty for Bloomberg or his $2 million.

The Reload’s Stephen Gutowski aptly described the results, writing, “Gun Control in Virginia Dealt Heavy Blow as Voters Turn to Republicans.”

Pocket Change

Bloomberg spent more than $1 billion during the 2020 election cycle and came away “with huge losses.” His gun control pet projects Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action were major beneficiaries. Most recently Everytown dropped another nearly $2 million in Virginia in hopes of securing victories for gun control in the legislature, as well as carrying former Democratic Gov. Terry McAuliffe to the governor’s mansion.

Winning the governor’s office would have been huge for Bloomberg. McAuliffe was Virginia’s Democratic governor from 2014-2018 and his gun control platform this go-around was more far-reaching than his previous term. He declared firearms to be a “public health crisis” from the campaign trail.  He also supported a sweeping gun control agenda that included banning the most popular selling semiautomatic rifles in America – the Modern Sporting Rifle (MSR) and standard ammunition magazines with a capacity greater than 10 rounds. The former governor also vouched for restricting the right to carry by banning concealed carry in “public spaces.”

John Feinblatt, president of the gun control group Everytown, was giddy about Bloomberg’s investment and the prospects of winning Virginia. In June he exclaimed, “Virginia’s elections have always been a national bellwether, so it says a lot about the strength of the gun safety movement that three gun sense candidates are running at the top of the Democratic ticket.”

Boy was he right. The problem for Feinblatt is that elections must first be won and Virginians chose the candidates who will protect their gun rights.

Sweeping Victories

After the Election Day dust settled, Virginians gave gun rights candidates victories in the state’s highest three offices. Republican Glenn Youngkin pulled off a come-from-behind victory for governor. Republican Lieutenant Governor-elect Winsome Sears became Virginia’s first African-American woman to win that office. Republican Jason Miyares became the Commonwealth’s first Hispanic-American attorney general. The down-ballot races were just as bad for Feinblatt and Bloomberg. Republican candidates supportive of gun rights retook the majority in the House of Delegates.

The Reload’s Gutowski described the monumental shift. The sweep by gun rights candidates, “also represents a reversal of fortunes for gun-control…The state has gone from considering confiscating AR-15s, to electing a statewide candidate [Sears] who held one on her campaign posters in just two years.”

Another $2 million down the drain for Bloomberg and Feinblatt. Add it to the tab.

Bellwether Indeed

Feinblatt was correct when he said Virginia was a bellwether. Old Dominion voters echoed what millions are saying across the country. They have jumped off the fence and landed firmly on the side of protecting the Second Amendment. It’s not just in Virginia.

In 2020, more than 21 million firearms were sold to law-abiding Americans. So far in 2021, the pace is continuing and trending to become the second-highest firearm sales year on record. In Ohio, Second Amendment supporter Mike Carey won a congressional special election to head to Washington, D.C. In Minneapolis, voters rejected a “replace the police” ballot measure and in Seattle, elected a mayor who ran in opposition to “defund the police” efforts.

The failed $2 million effort in Virginia this year is a drop in the swimming pool for Bloomberg but he just doesn’t take the hint. He tried and failed in past efforts, including in Texas and Arizona, and he’s already putting a down payment on the 2022 elections.

One thing’s certain. Voters continue to make their voices heard and they are voting for the Second Amendment. It’s now less than one year until Election Day 2022 and NSSF relaunched the #GUNVOTE® online resource so voters know exactly where candidates stand on firearm issues and what they’ve said in the past. It’s a valuable resource for Americans to make sure they don’t risk their rights at the ballot box.

Winsome Sears is not “African American”. She is from Jamaica and mentioned that on the campaign trail and in her acceptance upon her winning the Lieutenant Governor office.
(I remember back in the ’90s when a journalist called General Colin Powell an “African American”. He replied in a highly incensed manner saying, “I am not an African American! My family is from Jamaica!”)

who cares? I dont care the color, race or creed of the person as long as they are in favor of our Constitution and Bill Of Rights! They could be green or purple for all i care as long as they believe in what built this country! Freedoms, Liberties and the right to work to that end! I have finally at 57yrs old achieved a sense of being ok in my retirement! I sold my home in the most disgusting and bluest state in the Nation ,in New Jersey and plan to use some of that money to buy land in a “free” state! I hope to some day have a nice home/cabin in a place that i can wake up on a Saturday or Sunday morning and have a coffee and if i want to, go out on my back deck and plink at targets?!?!?! Look i dont hunt but i do enjoy the shooting sports. IF ever a day came that i couldmnt find or afford a steak at the grocery store then ill consider killing a deer or other critter for food? But until then i feel no need to kill anything! but at the same time I feel as though to make America safe again that we need ot remove all illegal aliens! The worst of them all is the Moslems. Islam has been banned from American soil since 1952 and its in our Constitution! Obama and those ,just before him and after him other then Trump brought in even more of them to our door steps! Now we have, multiple Moslem terrorist camps in “all” 50states!!! There are now well over 15million enemies of the state in our country. The largest standing enemy army to ever be on American soil! I dont see a civil war for our own freedoms as Americans, but a war of kill or be killed between Americans and those of Islam! They have been banned since 1952 because Islam as a whole declared war on the western world! They are self proclaimed enemies of all that is good and holy in our society, and all of western civilization! So for that reason alone all peoples from the middle east and around the globe must 1st denounce Islam before ever being considered for a work visa or green card/citizenship! Yet we have them serving in our Federal and state level Governments!!!! HELLO??? So not to mention all the drug cartels and those gang members that have illegally come here but then we have to worry about Moslems murdering us when they feel they have enough fighters to take over!!! WTF? I plan to make my self and family as safe as i can!!! Screw all the so called Patriots that sit at home on their hands praying someone else will save them! Ill do that my self!!!% I pray for us all and may for ever and always “only” GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!

We need to figure out how to get this idiot to spend all his money on losing ideas, but have that money go to good causes. Just think what could be done in these communities. Instead the only people profiting are advertising companies, and tv stations.

Jim – he is too far to the left to actually want to good stuff for the various communities. He is a typical wannabe dictator who would (and does) rather spend his big bucks trying to buy power, influence and control than doing good. The ‘funny’ part is that he hasn’t figured out that he just ‘might’ actually buy far more good will (and votes) by trying to fix problems instead of trying to buy his way into power..
I’m glad he hasn’t figured it out though since IF he ever got into power again he would be a real danger.
