Vaccinate THIS: Guns Aren’t Diseases, CDC

What do you do when the American public is buying guns, but not your B.S.? Pretend the 2A is a pandemic!

Today, we have an alarming development from the Centers for Disease Control. Oh, no, it’s not a new strain of COVID-19; it’s another blatant attempt to cast the Second Amendment as some sort of disease. This isn’t the first time that a government agency that has nothing to do with our nation’s firearms has attempted to butt in to the discussion, of course. Just a few years ago, our nation’s doctors were being exhorted to question their patients about whether they owned guns in much the same way they’re supposed to ask us if we smoke cigarettes or drink alcohol.

We have the below response from Larry Keane of the National Shooting Sports Foundation, which is the lobbying arm for the gun industry. (That’s not the same as the NRA, which is the lobbying arm for gun owners.) He reports that although Rochelle Walensky may be calling for gun control, she sure didn’t call him … and if she had, he’d have set her straight.

Rochelle Walensky, the director of The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, is putting out the call for increased studies into gun-related issues. Dr. Walensky told CNN the issue of criminal misuse of firearms is a “serious public health threat” adding, “something has to be done about this.”

Dr. Walensky’s said she even wants to include gun owners. So far, Dr. Walensky hasn’t contacted NSSF. If she does, we have a few ideas that work to reduce the criminal acquisition and misuse of firearms, firearm suicides and firearm safety called Real Solutions. Safer Communities®.

Real Solutions

Those are programs with proven results. Within Real Solutions is the firearm industry’s FixNICS® campaign, that changed laws in 16 states and in Congress to ensure all disqualifying adjudicated mental health and criminal records are submitted to the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). Started in 2013 when there were just 1.7 million records submitted, FixNICS changed the laws in those 16 states. Today, there are over 6.14 million submitted disqualifying adjudicated mental health records, a 270 percent increase.

The firearm industry’s Project ChildSafe® forged partnerships with 15,000 law enforcement agencies in all 50 states and five U.S. territories to distribute over 40 million free firearm safety kits, including locking devices. This program has been heralded by the Government Accountability Office for its’ efficacy and was a finalist for the National Safety Council’s Green Cross awards.

The firearm industry partnered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for the “Don’t Lie for the Other GuyTM” campaign to prevent illegal straw purchases. This two-decade old outreach reminds the public that purchasing a firearm for someone who can’t, or doesn’t want to be associated with the sale, is a federal crime that carries a punishment of 10 years in jail and a $250,000 fine. Another ATF-partner program, Operation Secure Store®, voluntarily increases security at firearm retailers to deter and prevent thefts and burglaries. The ATF showed this program works, with 61 percent drop in instances of thefts and burglaries in the first six months of 2021 compared to 2020 and 74 percent drop in the number of stolen firearms.

The firearm industry also partnered with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention to provide information to firearm retailers and ranges to urge “brave conversations” to prevent suicides by firearm. This partnership was extended to include the Department of Veterans Affairs to stem and reverse the instances of suicides.

These are programs proven to reduce the criminal and negligent misuse of firearms. NSSF has stated previously, and stands by the commitment to sit at the table to discuss ways to reduce criminal access to firearms and improve firearm safety in the home while respecting the rights of law-abiding Americans to keep and bear arms.

Ongoing Examination

The CDC has studied firearm issues for years. It has a program that tracks firearm-related injuries, called Web-based Injury Statistics Query Reporting System (WISQARS). It recently showed that, while always tragic, deaths of children under four involving a firearm were less than one percent.

The Dickey Amendment doesn’t halt gun-related-related CDC studies. Congress passed the Dickey Amendment, and recently reaffirmed it, to restrict the CDC from advocating for gun control, which was occurring. The CDC never stopped studies, including examinations of guns and suicidenoise and lead exposure at ranges, firearm violence prevention in Wilmington, Del., and a report on firearms homicides and suicides in metropolitan areas. That doesn’t include studies by the FBI, Department of Justice and Congressional studies. President Barack Obama signed an Executive Order in 2013 directing $10 million in “gun violence” research.

The CDC announced research grants in 2020 “to Prevent Firearm-Related Violence and Injuries.” The CDC has an entire section of their website dedicated to “Firearm Violence Prevention” and another section dedicated to “Funded Research.”

Warning Labels

The fact of the matter is criminal misuse of firearms is a concern; one that law enforcement and the courts must address. The insistence of treating criminal activity as a sort of pathogen doesn’t properly address the issue. The mere presence of a firearm doesn’t make law-abiding citizens criminals-in-waiting. Additionally, education efforts, like those championed by the firearm industry, are proven to reduce negligent firearm misuse.

“Let’s agree, we don’t want people to die. Let’s just agree there. What can we do to stop people from dying, and what can we do to stop people from being injured,” Dr. Walensky told CNN.

NSSF is just as frustrated that real firearm safety measures have become a political football, but that’s not always the case. The firearm industry worked with Congress to pass the FIX NICS Act. This was legislation modeled on NSSF’s FixNICS campaign. This law compelled federal agencies and incentivized states to submit all disqualifying background information to the FBI. The federal legislation had 78 Senate co-sponsors, a clear indication that true firearm safety is where both sides can agree. It was passed by an overwhelming bipartisan vote and signed into law by President Donald Trump. The Department of Justice applauded the law for making significant strides in proving background checks.

This has been done before and more work can be done. The firearm industry trade association is ready if the CDC is serious

  1. The groups that advocate gun control normally challenge the interpretation of the of the 2nd Amendment of our Constitution but the truth is more basic than that on going argument. Over the last 40+ years I have been in enough combat theaters and other locations that remind me cesspools that . After spending most of my adult life believing that I was serving my country I finally figured out I was a fool being played like a puppet. The Liberal Left merely want serfs not citizens that can think. As stated before the argument is more basic than the 2nd Amendment. It is a persons BASIC HUMAN RIGHT to protect their self, their family, and their property from any threat. I don’t care if the threat comes from a criminal element, a LEO turned to a bully, an enemy of the state, or a tyrannical government. Every authoritarian government has disarmed its citizens to protect themselves and subjugate the people. A person should be free to own what ever weapon they feel necessary to insure their own security. That is a BASIC RIGHT that no government should have the power to dictate. That is the fundamental question that all free men must answer: Do we stand by and let those power hungry politicians dictate what we can have for our own personal security or do we unite and take our country back and have the government at all levels work as our Founding Fathers intended.

  2. So now the CDC, which can’t make up its mind on the CV, it’s not a vaccine, it’s a vaccination!?,

The CDC now wants to call gun and gun ownership a disease! They tried to push this idea back in the 1990’s. What nonsense.

Maybe if these demoncrap run cities would stop listening to a bunch of loud mouth criminals and rioters and looters and stopped trying to defund-abolish the police and let the police do their job and arrest these criminals, then the crime rate would go down.

Sleepy Joe says all the crime is committed by “white supremacists terrorists”. How stupid.

Many demoncrap cities have a “no bail required” and release criminals back to the streets only to commit more crimes

The Border Patrol has no more room for all of the illegals coming up from Central America and they are putting them on busses and planes and sending them to major cities and the crime rate goes up. And so does the rate of CV infection.

The politiicians said back in 1968, the” gun control act” would stop all crime. Did it? Of course not.

Then the politiicians said in 1994 that the Brady Bill and background checks would stop all crime. Did it? Of course not.

It’s not the law abiding citizens that are commiting the crimes. It’s street gangs, drug gangs, drug addicts, homeless that are commiting crimes.

In commiefornia, in broad daylight, shoplifter’s walk into clothing stores, grab armfull of clothes off the racks, walk outside to a waiting car and drive off, nobody does anything. They have even shown this on TV. And if they do ever get caught, they are not charged and they are let go because they are “poor”.

Now the gun banning groups and far leftist politicians want more background checks, more red flag laws, and more ways to deny citizens from purchasing firearms. Some even go as far as saying if a person got a speeding ticket or parking ticket then that makes them a criminal! And they can’t purchase a firearm.

On a survival site, they said there are over 2 million laws on the books and around 50 to 100 more are added everyday. It is said, a person can’t even drive to their job or go grocery shopping without breaking half a dozen laws. So that makes everyone a criminal.

The hunting banning groups are joining up with the gun banning groups to ban all” hunting guns”, Their idea is, is they can ban hunting, then why do people need “hunting guns”?

These gun banning groups get big money from Michael Bloomberg and George Soros and make up phony movies. They will rent a empty building, then fix it up to look like a gun store, and then “claim” using hidden cameras, that criminals go in and purchase guns off the books, and say this is the norm and it’s all true.

Most of these gun banning groups are run and funded by Micheal Bloomberg, George Soros, the Chinese government, the U.N.,. Russia and Mexico.

AOC and the “squad” want to repeal the 2nd amendment. He’ll,. they want to replace the Bill of Rights and the Constitution with something out of Castro and Stalin handbook!

AOC and the”squad” want to replace the American flag too!

Support and protect your right to keep and own all types of firearms and accessories. Don’t let far leftist, power crazed, mentally unstable politiicians to ban and confiscate our guns!

Background check equals gun registration equals gun confiscation equals gun control concentration camps.

  3. Hate to burst anyone’s bubble on the issue of gun control. However, blaming the hardware for how it is used makes no more sense than claiming the car was responsible for the drive by shooting last week in the hood.
Place the blame where it belongs. On the person who made the decision to use the gun or car to commit the crime.
Of course, it’s easier to go after the inanimate object rather than deal with the persons involved.

  4. I know this idea would not be pleasant for the spineless but the majority of gun crimes are committed by the gangs in cities.
Put out daily public service announcements in these areas that state: if you commit a violent crime with a firearm, and you are found guilty the punishment will be to have an inch of your penis surgically removed.
The left is always making statements how firearms are a ‘sexual’ fetish so they should welcome this type of punishment for the violent criminal community.
Get rid of gangs and most of the gun violence will be rectified.
PSA: Using a gun in a crime? Lose your an inch of your penis!

  5. If anyone thought that they really wanted to defund police just to defund police. It’s all about optics and then control. They defund police then crime goes up then they have a good reason to clamp down on gun owners but they never take into account that gun owners are not the problem and never have been and most people know that. Why is it that every place where the 2nd amendment has been infringed upon also has high rates of crime. First off the democrat party does not care about your safety. The only thing they care about is their own power. Those in charge of the left are not stupid and they have a plan. It’s a devious plan most people would find disgusting. Their followers are however very stupid. They blindly follow their leaders and believe everything spouted out by their propagandists and question what they say no further. Whether guns crime is a health issue or just a plain old safety issue what ever works for them is what they will use. By taking away everyone’s AR-15 and 9mm pistols crime will not magically go down the opposite will in fact happen and we’ll all be enslaved by people who know how to do one thing and that is deceive but as far as actually governing they completely fail every time.

  6. They don’t WANT a ‘fix’, they NEVER DID!
They want guns gone, plain and simple.
Only a fool blames an inanimate object for a person’s choice, and though the Anti’s in charge are not fools, they cater to those that are, and many are Democrats. It is the “useful idiots” doctrine that they pursue.

    1. DING DING they want complete disarmament.

It has nothing to do with saving lives, except theirs when they implement their Communist/Marxist/Socialist dictatorship on America.

  7. There is a very simple fix to the gun problem and Democraps won’t let it be used. See the fix is terminate those use any weapon to kill once caught and tried if guilty. Thanks to Democraps and their flunkies in the ACLU criminals have it easy and prison does not deter crime anymore. Any time a Democrap say they want to work on Criminal reform it means they are giving Criminals all sorts of things while taking everything b to punish a Criminal out of the Laws. Want to stop gun crime the way is simple make any crime that the offender uses a gun a death penalty offense. Stop any and all plea deals for gun crimes. Make Prison a miserable place to be by cutting out the weights, cable/satellite tv, make those in prison earn their keep by working 12 hours a day 6 day a week at hard labor. But Democraps will fight this because they want votes and excuses for criminals to get those votes.

  8. Too many people have a simple and basic misunderstanding about “gun control.” “Gun control” is not now, and has never been, about crime or criminals. Quite frankly, the Left couldn’t give a rat’s behind about crime or criminals. Gun control is, and has always been, about disarming the citizenry so they cannot represent a threat to the government once the Left establishes the dictatorship they have been working toward for well more than half a century and, thanks to the stolen elections of November and January, are now in the process of consolidating. The key word in the term “gun control” is not “gun” – it is “control.” A quick study of basic world history will show that one of the first actions taken by every Communist government upon their takeover was to go to all of the local police stations, get the lists of gun owners, and then go door to door and disarm everyone. That is why the Communists – er, I mean the Democrats – want a national gun registry. Is there really anyone at this point in time who still does not understand this?

And by the way, it is way beyond disingenuous that the Left always speaks of “we need gun control” as if there were currently no laws concerning firearms. There are now more than 24,000 gun control laws in effect at the federal, state, and local levels in this nation. Every conceivable aspect of firearm purchase, ownership, and use is covered dozens of times over. Firearms are by far the single most regulated and restricted consumer product in this nation. The only ones who are impacted by all these laws are the law-abiding. Criminals very rarely (check the FBI data on this) even attempt to obtain firearms through legal channels, and are thus unaffected by “gun control.” As I stated above, “gun control” has nothing to do with crime or criminals.
