Gun Grabbers Use COVID-19 to Attack Open Carry
The gun-grabbers’ motto has always been “Never Let a Crisis Go to Waste.” COVID-19 is that crisis.
One of the most infuriatingly hilarious facts about anti-gunners is that, regardless of what the crisis is, you can count on them to use that crisis to infringe upon the Second Amendment. It’s like clockwork; from the New Orleans police department’s unconstitutional firearms confiscations during the Katrina crisis in 2005 to the COVID-19 pandemic, someone is waiting for us to look away for a moment so they can grab our guns. The latest example comes to us from a rather surprising city–Jackson, Mississippi, where mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba recently announced that he was banning the open carry of firearms. Per the linked article:
By blaming law-abiding citizens’ right to carry firearms openly in the Magnolia State for Jackson’s violent crime rate — a problem which existed long before the advent of COVID-19 — and claiming broad civil emergency powers to restrict that right, he joins a long list of anti-gun politicians who have shamelessly used this pandemic to further a gun control agenda. Mayor Lumumba even used this opportunity to call on the Legislature to repeal Mississippi’s open carry law!
Although the fact that this took place in generally-gun-friendly Mississippi may be surprising, the fact that it happened isn’t. Our sister publication’s Trace Munson reported on how open carry is a real option during times when the court system that issues concealed-carry permits is shut down. Clearly, the anti-gunners only needed a few days to realize the same thing…and clearly, the idea of visibly armed law-abiding citizens terrifies them to the point of incontinence.
Speaking of incontinence, Lumumba’s pronouncement went over like a fart in church. Within one business day, Mississippi’s Attorney General Lynn Fitch had issued a stinging rebuke of Lumumba’s crepitation:
“Mississippians enjoy the right to lawfully open carry in all of Mississippi’s 82 counties and in every municipality within the State. The City of Jackson is no exception. The City lacks statutory authority to suspend a state statute or constitutional provision. Accordingly, I ask that you rescind the Order immediately. I take seriously my obligation to protect Mississippians’ constitutional rights, and I will take every action available to my office to ensure these rights are not infringed upon.”
Two days after that, the Mississippi Justice Institute filed a lawsuit against the order. What’s interesting is that Lumumba’s air-biscuit was set to expire today, April 30…so this situation is still ongoing. If you ever needed proof that the gun banners are at their most active when they’re hoping America’s law-abiding citizens are busy dealing with a crisis, here it is. We’ll keep you posted as this situation develops!

I get your drift but it isn’t really funny. It is a very sad commentary on the awareness of those who are voting. Those folks who want something from government are much more likely to vote than those who are self-sufficient folks busy with their own lives and their families. We need to make people more aware of the fact that the people who think government should control our every move are more common in government than people who think the citizens have constitutional rights, individual freedoms and are supposed to be in control of the government. The concept of government of the people, by the people and for the people has pretty much evaporated from the general voting population. If you want your second amendment rights to continue, do everything you can to educate those around you.
Only one question: Have any pf the gun grabbing idiots managed to establish a single link between firearms and the Corona-virus? I’m waiting.

What we are seeing now is just the beginning. What do you think the purpose of this manufactured “crisis” is, anyway? The unemployment, financial ruin, enforced confinement, and social isolation imposed by government is inevitably going to create mental health issues. One result will be increased suicides. Another will be mass shootings. Then they will use that to justify gun confiscation. That’s the whole point.
Out forefathers were very smart in giving us the 2nd amendment. They knew douche bags like this would one day raise their gun grabbing heads. The question is how will we respond to these unconstitutional gun grabbers. The Supreme Court has not taken up a gun case in years. They are no help. If they don’t stop these grabbers who will? I don’t want to see violence but I really don’t want to see our rights taken away by incompetent leftists. They are why we have the 2nd amendment.
The most powerful response we can make would be to get rid of tenure in our ‘education’ system and get the lefties in charge of our schools and our classrooms into other occupations (like dog catcher or septic tank repairmen). Over the last 50 years or so our schools have sunk to about 34th internationally as actual education has been replaced with political correctness and leftist propaganda. The schools are now mostly leftist indoctrination centers.
For example: the students are taught that Hitler and the NAZI’s were bad, but they aren’t taught that Hitler was the leader of the German socialist party and that NAZI is short for the National Socialist German Workers’ Party. They are taught that capitalism is a system based on greed (the opposite of the truth) and that socialism is the best possible system of government (also the opposite of the truth).
And because those in charge of the universities, of the federal department of education, most professors, those in control of the teachers unions and most teachers are Democrat leftists (shown by the fact that over 90% of their political contributions go to Democrats), the schools, from kindergarten through post-grad are churning out politically correct, leftist Marxists at the rate of a couple million annually. And if we don’t change the schools soon it is inevitable that those students will be the majority in a very few years from now.
You know what the funny thing is, these people just did not walk into office they were voted in. So get off your butt and go out and vote them out.
The good news is, you can carry concealed in Mississippi without any special permit required. If you can legally own a gun, you can legally carry it.
Democrats still have not learned that you can’t solve a problem, in this case, gun violence, by restricting the rights of law-abiding citizens. We aren’t the problem.
If the libtards ever get their hooks into the 2nd Amendment, it will only be a matter of time before we lose the 1st, 3rd, etc…

Ya gotta love the moniker of this guy. Lumumba. Named after the Congolese leader from 1960 who wound up being executed by others of his ilk in one of the many civil wars that led to the “Democratic Peoples Republic of the Congo” we have today. And somehow poetic that the state capital should have the state’s highest crime rate.
I live about 30 miles south or Jackson, I never go there unarmed.
