Naked: Kirk Slaying Exposes Left’s Lust for Violence

Yeah, that’s all of our faces right now.
Put that thing away, MSNBC. Nobody wants to see that.
Yesterday, conservative activist Charlie Kirk was murdered while speaking at a college event in Utah. Moments after the shot rang out—before it was certain whether Kirk might survive, before the shooter was caught, let alone before any details were released—the “liberal” side of the Internet exploded in an absolute orgy of naked, ghoulish joy nasty enough to turn Ron Jeremy’s stomach.
Yes, naked. Time was, the idiom we used to describe people who had revealed their true intentions was, “unmasked.” That metaphor isn’t adequate anymore, for several reasons, each more disgusting than the last. We’ve already noted the fact that, as always, the Lefties like AOC didn’t even wait for the blood to dry before they began blaming the Second Amendment. But we expected that; that’s been their modus operandi for decades.
But the Kirk assassination has teased the anti-gun Left into revealing much more than their faces. They welcomed it as a chance to drop trou and run around the Internet waving their hate-boners at everyone unfortunate enough to look.
For example, we had Matthew Dodd wondering aloud on MSNBC whether one of Kirk’s supporters had shot him “firing a gun off in celebration.” Does Dodd actually believe that conservatives randomly shoot our concealed-carry firearms willy-nilly when we’re happy, or did he think his comment would make his viewers chuckle? (That’s an inclusive “or,” by the way. Because the answer is “both.”)
Dodd wasn’t done, though. He then moved on to the next Leftist talking point about the assassination: That Kirk had brought it on himself with his “awful words.”
“You can’t stop with these awful thoughts you have and then saying these awful words and then not expect awful actions to take place,” sneered Dodd. And he wasn’t alone in whipping that one out. The New York Times’ obituary of Kirk also blames him for “provoking” violence.
The nastiest nudes, of course, were posted by the people with the most access to power. J.B. Pritzker, the current governor of Illinois, blamed Trump’s “rhetoric,” saying, “We saw the shootings, the killings in Minnesota. We’ve seen other political violence occur in other states, and I would just say it’s got to stop. And I think there are people who are fomenting it in this country. I think the president’s rhetoric often foments it. We’ve seen the January 6th rioters, who clearly, have tripped a new era of political violence.”
He’s not alone. Former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki twerked for the camera with a similar sentiment.
This isn’t commentary. It’s pornography. I say this not just because it’s disgusting; I say this because what we’re seeing is the release of pent-up pressure, rooted deep in the hindbrain, a primal need—not to reproduce, but to “be a winner.” To be the person who was on the “right side of history.”
It’s also, like pornography, rooted entirely in unachievable fantasy. It’s a fantasy in which the Leftist has been correct all along about everything, nothing has been his fault or the fault of his fellow travelers, and in which the bad people who opposed the Leftist get what’s coming to them. In this one-handed dream state, the Leftist can stroke himself publicly about his moral superiority even as he delights in the death of someone who didn’t agree with him.
In short, although we’re used to seeing Leftists not even waiting for the victim’s blood to dry before they start dancing in it, we aren’t used to them dancing naked. We aren’t used to them actually airing the cheers and celebration like a flasher’s junk flopping in the breeze.
What’s the most nauseating, of course, is that all of this bloodlust is directed at one of the kindest, most genteel conservatives in the space. Kirk was a man who believed in changing minds and hearts with honest, open conversations. He never shouted down his interlocutors; he listened to them and responded with respect. He spoke to them like human beings, even if they refused to act like they were.
The best way to honor Kirk’s memory would be to emulate him; to wade into the fray with a smile and a quip. To look people who disagree with us in the eyes and persuade them with facts and reason—and agree to disagree, if that fails. But as for me, as for right now, I can’t do that until the anti-gun Left does something very important:
Put some pants on, MSNBC, and try crossing your legs if you just can’t hide “it” any longer. If you can’t have a little decency, at least try for modesty.
