Guns Save Lives

Vile Hamas Attacks Prove We Need the Second Amendment

Ever seen “Red Dawn”?

It was a controversial film when it was released in 1984, and it still is. Those who support the Second Amendment recognize it for what it is: Sheepdogs banding together to protect the herd from Russian wolves. Gun-grabbers like to cite it as a conservative fantasy that could never happen here.

“I love my right-wing friends who talk about [how] the tree of liberty is watered with the blood of patriots,” Biden said a couple of months ago. “If you need to worry about taking on the federal government, you need some F-16s. You don’t need an AR-15.”

But is that really true?

Here’s how the movie starts: It’s just a normal serene Monday at school. The characters start their day when all of a sudden, a “very unusual” thing happens: Parachuting soldiers surround the school. A teacher goes out to see what the soldiers want. A student is heard joking that Mr. Teasdale wants to see their hall pass. The unarmed teacher approaches the soldiers “What’s going on here my friend?” Chaos ensues as everyone in sight is gunned down, taken hostage or beaten.

Does that sound familiar at all?

October 7, 2023. A techno music festival where hundreds of carefree young people dance through the night into the break of dawn. In the distance, something “very unusual” begins as paragliders appear on the dancers’ peripheral. Partygoers joke and laugh. In an instant the festival and country erupts, becoming the Israel’s single deadliest attack on civilians in its history.

Israel is one of the most advanced countries in the world when it comes to technology, intelligence and their militaries. They have to be, obviously, to survive. But on October 7, Hamas managed an invasion with little more than guerilla tactics, lawnmower-powered paragliders and … oh my, AK47s and M16s.

The same guns that Biden says are useless against a military power. (And the same guns that he ensured would fall into the hands of religious extremists when he ordered the American retreat from Afghanistan.)

It’s convenient to restrict guns when you don’t need them. Until you do.

Neither Ukraine nor Israel have anything that looks like our Second Amendment; gun ownership is restricted for civilians. Or, more precisely, it was.

Upon the Russian invasion, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky called out, “We will give weapons to anyone who wants to defend the country … Be ready to support Ukraine in the squares of our cities.”

Upon the Palestinian outrage, Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir ordered the agency that issues gun permits to loosen its requirements. “Today I directed the Firearms Licensing Division to go on an emergency operation in order to allow as many citizens as possible to arm themselves. The plan will take effect within 24 hours.”
Those are hours and days when both countries desperately needed an armed civilian population, and didn’t have one. The delays cost lives.

“But it couldn’t happen here! Nobody’s invading America like ‘Red Dawn.’”

If anyone thinks that terrorist attacks or a full-scale military invasion on American soil couldn’t happen, I would like to remind them of 9/11/2001. (And, not for nothing, there’s also the War of 1812—even if the Brits are our allies now.)

I’d like to point out the fact that Hamas is calling for worldwide jihad. They are not hiding their intentions. Countless past reliable sources are indicating that there is an increased chance of attacks at major events and cities. Is this pure speculation or are the sources correct? Unfortunately we will not know unless or until something happens.

Speaking of “happenings” …
The ATF just sent an Alert to firearms dealers and manufacturers:
ATF FFL Alert – Notice of Intent for large caliber firearms purchases:
“Law enforcement is advising Federal Firearms Licensees of expanding interest of criminal networks’ intention to utilize straw purchasers in acquiring large caliber firearms such as .50 caliber and/or belt fed rifles within the next 60 days. This activity is anticipated to occur throughout the entire State of Texas. Please contact your local ATF office if any suspicious, attempted or finalized purchases occur.”
But there’s no invasion here!

  • USA Today estimates 2.2 million people have been apprehended at the southern border in 2023 alone.
  • In fiscal year 2023, Border Patrol reported apprehending 151 migrants with positive terrorism watchlist matches who entered the U.S. illegally along the southern border. This is an all-time high that passed the previous record of 98 set in fiscal year 2022.
  • Senator John Thurne: “Another4 million illegal immigrants, known as “gotaways,” have evaded Border Patrol.”

Prudence, not panic

I believe that it would be prudent to at least raise your awareness level. I am not saying go find a cave and hide out to wait for the end of the world (unless you really want to, I guess). I am saying that we need to keep our eyes open … call it a country-wide “Condition Yellow.” If you’re at large, celebratory gatherings like parades, sports events and the like, keep your head up and your eyes off your phone.

Unfortunately the truth is that there are people in the world that would love nothing more than to kill or maim as many Americans as they can. Should we quit living our lives because there is a threat? Of course not! But we can and should prepare for the worst even as we hope for the best.
