NRA Announces Rescheduled 2020 Meeting of Members
The NRA Annual Meeting of Members’ rescheduled time and location has been announced!
Earlier this year, the National Rifle Association was forced to cancel its Annual Meeting of Members due to COVID-19. Ongoing restrictions on the sizes of gatherings have made what is normally a gala event with 70,000+ members in attendance into a bare-bones legal minimum for re-electing Board Members. The below is the NRA’s official announcement.
The National Rifle Association, the oldest civil rights organization in the country, is holding the 149th NRA Annual Meeting of Members Saturday October 24, 2020 at 9:00am in the Loews Ventana Canyon Hotel located at 7000 N. Resort Drive, Tucson, Arizona. The meeting was originally scheduled to be held April 18 in conjunction with the 2020 NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits, but was rescheduled due to the cancellation of the 2020 Convention.
Join NRA President Carolyn D. Meadows, Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre, NRA-ILA Executive Director Jason Ouimet and the other NRA officers for the Annual Meeting of Members as they share the vision for NRA going forward. The official results of the 2020 election of members to the NRA Board of Directors will be announced as well. The meeting is free to attend and open to all current NRA members and immediate family.
Eligible NRA members are strongly encouraged to vote during the Annual Meeting of Members. Voting members help determine the future course and direction of the Association. Eligible members (Life members and Annual Members with five or more consecutive years of membership) may vote on Association business during the meeting and/or vote for the 76th Board Member. Annual Members with less than five years of consecutive membership may only vote for the 76th Board Member.
All members wishing to vote at the Annual Meeting of Members MUST have their memberships verified in the Voter Verification room. In order to vote, a person must be a Life member or Annual member with five or more consecutive years of membership by September 4, 2020. The member must also be a U.S. citizen and be at least 18 years of age.
The Voter Verification room will be located in the Ventana Room at the Hotel and will be open Friday October 23, 9am – 8pm, and Saturday October 24 from 8am until the conclusion of the Annual Meeting of Members. All voting booths for the 76th Director will be located in the Voter Verification room.

This situation needs to be investigated deeper than just a few acusations from the news media. I am also a Benefactor Member on Social Security and I don’t appreciate funds being squandered.
Why are we seeing the attacks against when the lefties are using amy method to destroy the NRA GROW UP AN WAIT TO DISSENT WHENIT IS APPROPIATE!!!A Mccarthy
So where and when is it located?
I have to agree with all of the above comments. I too am a benefactor member and though I have always supported the NRA, in light of recent events have considered pulling my membership. I work hard for my money and do not always have extra to give to the NRA though I want to. Knowing Mr. LaPierre has so lavishly spent money really irritates me and in my opinion needs to be reigned in.
Bridget, I also am a Benefactor member who has always tried to support the NRA. However I have quit sending money and will no longer contribute, except for Friends of NRA banquets, since they help support local organizations.
It is an outrage that Wayne LaPierre has gouged the membership with his spending habits, and because of this, and other do-nothing board members; many people have not renewed/joined the NRA. I would say that unless LaPierre is removed from anything to do with the NRA, HE will be the MAIN REASON for the dying of the NRA.
“ Ongoing restrictions on the sizes of gatherings have made what is normally a gala event with 70,000+ members in attendance into a bare-bones legal minimum for re-electing Board Members. ”
Is it just assumed that current board members will be re-elected in perpetuity? I’m hoping that some changes will be made if a majority of the board are only proxies for Wayne LaPierre. All of internal problems at the NRA have weakened the association’s standing and reduced its influence. If there’s any hope of recovering that, it will be members standing up and making a statement that “we are the NRA” not Wayne LaPierre as so many people in politics who like to vilify the NRA like to portray him to be. So long as the membership continues to allow the status quo to continue, it should not be surprising when we are portrayed as less than intelligent tools of the gun industry.
As a Benefactor member, Nra Instructor and an RO I must say i am disappointed in the WLP Leadership roll that i am seeing. Misuse of funds for political gain as well as other things money are being used for does not set well with me. Changes need to be made NOW.
WLP has lost sight of the responsibilities of his position, utilizing funds given by membership to support the causes of the NRA instead for personal gain. He should be held accountable and monies recovered and returned to the cause.
It is time for WLP to step down. Lack of financial transparency and mis use of monies has made me rethink my giving to the NRA. I can now be certified for instructor and RSO by another entity so I am not stuck with the NRA anymore. I now have a choice.
I hate to be this way but WLP and his cronies have set the scene.
With the many articles discussing the huge amount of corruption within the leadership of the NRA, it is time for Mr. LaPierre to tender his resignation and let someone else lead the NRA. He has spent the money that hard working members have given the NRA for his own pleasure. He has shown he no longer has the character to lead.
